Extended Security Updates in Toronto
Extended Security Updates for Toronto and GTA businesses from Group 4 Networks. Local engineers and 24/7 support. Since 2008. Call (416) 623-9677.
Extended Security Updates are the paid patches Microsoft sells after Windows 10 stops getting free security fixes. They are a bridge, not a plan to stay on Windows 10 forever. Group 4 Networks helps Toronto and GTA firms buy the right keys, activate the devices that still need them, and keep a list of which machines are covered. The office is 18 King Street East, Suite 1400. We have supported local businesses since 2008.
The first job is an inventory, not a purchase order. Which PCs are still on Windows 10, which of those cannot run Windows 11 because of the processor or the security chip, and which are only waiting because nobody has booked the upgrade. A machine that can move should move. A machine that runs a line of business app the vendor has not certified for Windows 11 is the one that belongs on Extended Security Updates. Buying the program for every laptop, including the ones that could have been upgraded in an evening, is how the bill gets silly.
Activation is the part people underestimate. The license is not a checkbox in Windows Update. Keys, activation counts, and the devices that consumed them have to match. We record the key, the device name, and the date, and we check that a later rebuild did not silently fall off the program. A PC that looks patched and is not enrolled is the one that matters. We would rather you have a short list that is true than a dashboard that says everything is fine.
The price steps up each year you stay. That is the point of the program: it should feel more expensive to wait. We will tell you the year you are in and what the next year does to the same device count, using the numbers Microsoft publishes, not a discount we invented. Your quote still depends on how many devices truly cannot move. Call (416) 623-9677 if you want that count done from the inventory rather than from a guess.
What stays on you is the decision about the app that will not run on Windows 11. We can test it. We cannot make a vendor support it. What we handle is the enrollment, the patch check, and the note in your asset list so the next person knows why that PC is still on Windows 10. New laptops should not join that list. If someone orders a Windows 10 image out of habit, we say so.
This is not a substitute for endpoint protection, backups, or a help desk. A patched Windows 10 PC can still run a bad attachment. The 15 minute P1 response target applies when something is actually down or spreading. The Extended Security Updates work is planned. We do not treat a license renewal as an outage.
A useful first month is the inventory and a pilot group. Ten devices enrolled, confirmed they received a current update, and written down. Then the rest of the machines that earned a place on the list. The ones that can take Windows 11 get a date instead of a key. That split is the whole service.
If the office also has servers that need patches after a Windows upgrade, see Windows Server management.
