An IT security audit is a structured look at how your Toronto business actually grants access, keeps backups, and handles mail and devices. It is not a penetration test, and it is not a certificate. Group 4 Networks does the review from 18 King Street East and gives you a written list of gaps in the order we would fix them. You can hand that list to us, to another firm, or to your insurer.
The scope is agreed before we start. Usually it is identity, mail, endpoints, backups, and the firewall. Sometimes you add a line of business app because that is where customer data sits. We do not wander into a plant network we were not asked to see. We do not run exploits against production during the work day. If you want a penetration test, that is a separate job with its own window.
What we collect is ordinary and specific. Admin accounts and who still works there. Multi factor authentication, and who is excused. Mail rules that forward outside. Laptops that are not encrypted. Backup jobs and the last time a restore worked. Firewall rules that say any to any because a project needed it once. Each item gets a plain sentence: what we saw, why it matters, what to change.
The report is short on purpose. A 40 page pack that restates a framework does not help a 30 person firm. You get the findings, the suggested order, and the ones that are urgent. Urgent usually means an admin password everyone knows, a backup that has been failing, or mail that can be sent as anyone. The rest can wait for a normal project.
How long does it take? Most small and mid size GTA scopes are a few days of looking plus the writeup, not a month. What do you need to give us? An admin who can show the tenant and the backup console, and someone who knows which systems matter. What does it cost? It depends on how many systems are in scope. Call (416) 623-9677 and we will say what we would need to see. We have done this work since 2008.
If the audit finds an active problem, we treat that as an incident, not as a line in a PDF. The 15 minute P1 response target applies when something is in progress. The audit itself is scheduled work. We will not bury a live issue at the bottom of a table so the report looks calm.
You can stop after the report. Firms use it to brief an insurer or to argue a renewal. Hiring us to fix the list is optional and is scoped separately, with the urgent items first and the cosmetic ones left off unless you want them.
